Japan Bancha (Second Flush)

#701  Bancha—“coarse tea”—hardly deserves its humble name. Plucked in the summer, after the prime sencha season, Bancha has a more subtle vegetal profile, with pleasant toasted notes and low astringency.

Preparation: 3 g tea leaves (1 heaping teaspoon) per 8 oz cup of filtered water, boiled and cooled to 80°C/176°F. Allow to brew 1 min.
