#301 Most Rwandan teas are grown on small farms that have united into a co-op; few produce orthodox teas, however, making this particular organic green tea a rarity. The acidic soil and high altitude in Rwanda are ideal for tea, and this single-origin tea from the Rukeri estate should be tried!
Smooth, with a sweet note at the end; as it cools, the classic green astringency develops. This tea falls mid-range between vegetal (like Japanese green teas) and nutty/roasted (like Chinese green teas).
Preparation: 3 g tea leaves (1 heaping teaspoon) per 8 oz cup of filtered water, boiled and cooled to 80°C/176°F. Allow to brew 2–3 min.
