This highly anticipated premium first-flush Darjeeling was the first plucking of the season! To preserve its high quality, the tea was air-freighted to us.
The Seeyok Estate is located at the top of Mirik Valley, close to Nepal. The British established Seeyok over 150 years ago, in 1869. The original seedlings are still producing tea (!) although clonals have recently been added. Seeyok has grown tea organically since the 1990s.
Due to the garden’s high elevation (5,900 feet), the plants grow slowly. This measured growth, along with the mountainous environment, imparts a more complex flavor to the tea.
Preparation: 3 g tea leaves (1 heaping teaspoon) per 8 oz cup of filtered water, boiled and cooled to 90°C/194°F. Allow to brew 2 min.
